The furling mainsail has been developed for cruising boats in order to make sailhandling more comfortable and faster. Hamel Sails have made furling mainsails for over 20 years resulting in a broad experience in design and clothselection. The development of furling mainsalis and masts have been extensive and today you can get similar performance and sailarea out of a furling main as from a regular mainsail.

Furling Main

Our furling mainsail can be equipped with or without battens. For customers that prioritize sailing performance we offer a furling mainsail with vertical battens in order to increase the sailarea. This will give the furling main a design close to a traditional mainsail, resulting in better performance and sailing experience. In order to design and produce the best furling mainsail it's essential that you have a great experience in saildesign as well as knowledge about the boatperformance, different mastconfigurations and brands. These parameters will directly have an impact in the choice of battenoptions and leechkurve.

We think that functionality and security are important in parallel to performance. A low quality batten that cracks can for example create major problems if you get caught in a squall with strong winds and need to reduce sailing area.
